BUESCHER: MICHIGAN PREVIEW

BUESCHER AT MICHIGAN… Buescher has made two career starts at Michigan International Speedway – both of which came last June in the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards as well as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. In his ARCA event, the 20-year-old qualified his No. 32 Wolf Pack Rentals entry in the second position and came home in fourth-place, completing 100% of the laps competed (100 of 100). The next afternoon, Buescher made his first Truck start at the 2-mile D-shaped oval and rolled off from the ninth position. After only eight laps, the Texas native was involved in an accident, relegating the youngster to a 33rd-place finish.

CONTINUING THE MOMENTUM… Over the last three races in the Truck Series, Buescher has carried a chain of momentum with his No. 31 Wolf Pack Rentals Chevrolet from Dover to Charlotte to last week’s race at Texas. With three top-six finishes (second, fourth, and sixth respectively), Buescher captured not only his career-best finish in NASCAR competition but also claimed his career-best qualifying effort in Truck Series action (second at Charlotte).

PLENTY OF SPEED… Buescher ranks first in two categories when compared to all other Truck Series drivers – Speed in Traffic at 171.599 mph and Green Flag Speed at 171.491 mph.

LOOKING BACK… Last week at Texas Motor Speedway, Buescher returned to his home state track and after qualifying in the third position, the Katy, Texas resident was dealt two bad breaks through the 167-lap race. As Buescher came to pit road under green-flag conditions at two different stages of the event, the caution came out trapping the No. 31 team two laps down. With a never give up attitude, Buescher and his Turner Motorsports team battled back to finish in the sixth position and on the lead lap.

CHASSIS INFORMATION… Crew chief Michael Shelton has chosen Turner Motorsports chassis No. 6 for Buescher to run at Michigan this weekend. Chassis No. 6 has raced once before, at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. At The Monster Mile, Buescher began in the 10th position and captured a second-place finish – his career-best in NASCAR competition – in this particular Leavitt chassis with Kevin Harvick Inc. body.

MEET THE DRIVER… Buescher will join other Truck Series drivers to sign autographs for fans on Friday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30 P.M. Eastern Time. SPEED Channel, Michigan International Speedway, and NASCAR will open the Truck Series garage from 3 to 5 P.M., allowing the fans to have a behind-the-scenes access to the drivers and teams. See highlights from the event on “The Set-Up” show, prior to Saturday’s green-flag.

TWEET OF THE WEEK… After making the 1200-mile drive from his home in Texas to the race shop in North Carolina, Buescher visited Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway to watch some Summer Shootout racing. The young gun tweeted on Tuesday night, “These legends car bring back some memories.” Buescher began his stock car racing career, competing in the Summer Shootout series and capturing many victories in the Legend cars. QUOTES FROM BEHIND THE WHEEL:

BUESCHER (On competing at Michigan International Speedway): “I’m looking forward to going back to Michigan this weekend. Last year, I had a really good run in the ARCA car and then had a good truck until I was involved in that crash on lap eight while running in the top-five. My Turner Motorsports guys have been working hard at the shop this week and we are going to try and keep our momentum going. We have been having a lot of fun this year and don’t plan on stopping any time soon.”
